I get to stay home and do productive, fun, and edifying stuff like read Love and Collage instead of participating in Youth Group Activities.
Imperishable Night
2007-11-16Finally, after quite some time, I’ve managed to 1cc Imperishable Night on easy.
While most people consider this the ‘easy’ Touhou game, I find it to be the second hardest. Well, of the Windows games at least. I don’t really play the PC-98 ones.
It does hand out lives and bombs like candy, but I go through them like water. And if it weren’t for the obscenely long Boundery of Life and Death, I’d go through them even faster. Spell Practice mode will make subsequent runs significantly easier, but you actually have to beat the game in order to unlock Spell Practice.
I still need to 1cc Perfect Cherry Blossom and Mountain of Faith before I start taking on normal difficulty, though. And Perfect Cherry Blossom is a major headache. Stage 4 is a nightmare and Yuyuko is major toughness.
And now, continuing this post a day later, I have played around with Spell Practice mode and found it delightful. I’ve already captured all Stage 1 and Stage 2 spellcards or easy and normal. A bunch of the Stage 6 spellcards except for the last 2 which are hard. Well, the last one isn’t hard it’s just tricksy. The bullets and lasers move in a very predictable fashion, it’s just that the density is so think even the slightest mistake means death.
See what I mean? Hourai Elixer is very, very tricksy.
And that’s easy difficulty. There are 3 harder difficulty levels.
And Walfas makes the cutest little sketches of the characters.

Car Care
2007-11-14So yesterday I changed my car’s battery.
It’s a surprisingly simple and easy process.
However, this is negated by the fact that most places where you can buy batteries will change them for you at no additional cost. Granted, it did give me a good feeling of satisfaction having done it all by myself.
But then, it’s easier than changing a tire.
Now I just need to be able to change my oil myself and I’ll feel really cool.
And the little Google search bar in Firefox is awesome. It’s like it can read my mind with its recs. It’s downright incredible.
Fisher brand honey roasted peanuts aren’t very good. They are fine. But they aren’t more deliciouser than candy delicious.

I finished reading Chocotto Sister yesterday. Good ending. Not quite satisfying, but my inner shipper does get out of hand sometimes in its demands.
It was also, much like Strawberry Marshmellows, incredibly easy to read in Japanese despite the lack of furigana. I keep thinking how weird it is that Hayate the Combat Butler is probably the hardest manga to read when it’s got furigana on everything and has a target audience of younger folk, while some of my furigana-less comics with significantly older target audience are some of the easiest. It’s so very lolwut.

I have things I want to write about, but I’m just not in the mood to really write. I can spit out silly little things, but anything of more substance, or even trying for substance, just isn’t coming.
Tv Tropes
2007-11-6Hey, Rachel, how have you been enjoying TV Tropes?
I remember you telling me that you’d hate me forever for showing you the site (think Wikipedia, but with a more casual approach for easier reading, but I never did hear how things went from there.
I’ve also decided that anyone who writes those absurd ‘can’t cook food’ scenes that appear in anime can’t have ever partaken of a session of cooking.
Either that or the Japanese are way, way, way too anal about methodology. Which is not actually an unlikely possibility.
