As much sense as Yamibou doesn’t make, I sure do like that song.

Annoyances

2008-03-3

I have been developing a list of gripes.  It’s a small list compared to what many folks could make.  And they are also mere annoyances.  Nothing really important.

The number one annoyance:  I’ve been sick for two weeks.   The first week was a sore throat.  I could speak pretty much fine.  But it hurt a lot.  And when I was at work without decent access to liquid constantly all day and nowhere to hack mucus, I’d end up with boogers in my throat.  Which is unbelievably obnoxious.

Then a week ago, with nearly no warning, my throat cleared up and my left ear stopped working.  Not serious not working.  I hope.  But it feels clogged and for most of the time I have problems hearing with that ear, which throws me really off balance.  But then, for a few hours each day, it’ll start feeling better and I can hear okay.  At those points it feels like my ear is full of water that just won’t leek out.

My second annoyance has been around for quite some time.   It’s two wrapped in one.

In order to run several of my games, I have to put my computer in certain settings.  These settings do weird, but harmless, things to my computer.

First, changing my default language for non-unicode programs to Japanese changes the ” in paths to a ‘¥’.  And sometimes when I start installing a program it’ll be in Japanese.

Second, putting my time zone to UTC+9 (Japan’s time zone) causes weird date mismatches that cause my anti-virus to go, “Yoohoo!  These dates don’t match!  You’ve got a problem!”

And yes, I have a game that requires my time zone to be set to Japan’s time zone to run.  Yet despite that I can set the actual time to my time without issue. I can’t comprehend the reasoning for that.

Moving.   I’m not even involved in the process and it’s causing me minor irritations.

And there is a chance I could be wrong about who will end up with whom in a show I’m watching.  That never happens.   Well, it happened once when the producers mucked about with the source material.  Source material in which my prediction was right.  Breaking my streak would really suck.  I’m probably not wrong, but eliminating all obstacles between two lovers in a romance show 2/3 through is suspicious.  No obstacles = no story.

I also can’t sing.  Well I can, but when I do I want to stop immediately because it sounds so bad.  This is because of my ear.   I can’t explain very well, but singing just doesn’t work.

And in a few days I should be hearing something about a job I applied for.  I hate waiting.  And I am waiting for an almost certain no, which just makes it worse because if that is the case I might not hear anything at all.

On the plus side, Kashmir is awesome.  Hilarity wins.
